Is Your Homeowners Policy On Your Staten Island Home Out Of Date?

insuranceYour insurance policy on your Staten Island home is one of those things you may not think about very often.  Many homeowners don’t change their policy from the time they purchase their home. Do you remember the last time you reviewed the coverage you have on your home?

Here are a few reasons that may indicate it’s time for a change in your policy.

Many policies will cover the standard damages such as fire, smoke, theft, hail, freezing, falling objects, and smoke.  However, many policies don’t cover floods. You don’t have to live on the water to need flood coverage.

Increasing Rates- Each year review your insurance rates and if you see them climbing it may be time to review that policy. If you are not bundling your homeowners insurance with other policies consider it to save you more money. Shop around for the best rates.

Relocation- If you are moving to a new Staten Island home more than likely you will be obtaining a new mortgage and will also need a new insurance policy.  The coverage you had on your previous home may not be sufficient enough coverage for your new home.

Home Improvement- If you have recently done any major home improvements your policy may not accurately reflect those new improvements. Update your policy to reflect the new increased value of your home.

A little bit of time and research on your part will save you money.  Take a minute to review your current insurance policy to make sure you are accurately covered and call around to some trusted insurance companies for rates.
